Public Speaking Practice – Try Virtual Reality

I am always on the lookout for new tools that can help us get better with public speaking. I have added a page that contains a number of videos that can be used “supposedly” to help you get used to speaking with different groups. The videos posted are not mine, but rather they are YouTube videos prepared by others. The general idea is that you would use your virtual reality device to get a sense of standing in front of a crowd. My little device of choice is the Tzumi Dream Vision goggle that my husband bought (as a gag gift, I assume) a few Christmases (is that right, plural?) ago. You’ll have to forgive me. I assume I’ll have to master English grammar before I can master public speaking. Anyhoo, for my device, I have to place my phone (an old Samsung), absolutely in the center of my goggle, and I can get a pretty sense of sanding in front of a group with at least one of the videos. You’ll have to let me know how it works for you.

Public Speaking Practice Resources

I did find some other virtual reality tools that you might find helpful.

  1. Virtual Orator – Virtual Orator is a virtual reality simulator that creates the sensation of being in front of an audience. The personal edition is $300, which would definitely be out of my price range.
  2. Virtual Speech – Previously known as Public Speaking VR — the Virtual Speech app is available on various app stores — including Google Play — and compatible with many mobile VR headsets. One feature for this company is that they offer fairly some fairly inexpensive courses. I saw one for $50.
  3. Samsung’s Be Fearless – This app seems to be in conjunction with Oculus and at the moment is free. My favorite price range. It requires a headset.
  4. Public Speaking Simulator – This app is free on iOS and Android. So, I’m definitely going to give it a try.

Disclosure: I am an Amazon affiliate and would receive a commission if you purchased the Tzumi goggle from this page.
